There's little point in considering installing a large island unit if your space is
long and narrow. But whatever the size, it's important to make your new kichen as efficient to use
as possible..
If you're lucky, you'll have a large square room which will be relatively easy
to plan. However, most rooms are either:
- Galley - cabinets fitted along one wall
- Two-Way Galley - cabinets fitted along two walls opposite each other
- L-Shaped - cabinets fitted along two walls and joined together at one
corner
- U-Shaped - cabinets fitted along three walls
Kitchen units can be either Fitted or Free-Standing.
Fitted Kitchen units do make the most of available space, as
the cabinets conceal the corners, whilst using the space for storage. There's a huge range of units
to suit - flat pack, chipboard, solid wood, stainless steel - for every taste and every pocket.
However, it's generally thought that a fitted kitchen will add value to your home. This is not
necessarily the case, as a lot of new owners tear out the kitchen in their newly-aquired property
as their first job!
