First Things First!
It's not surprising to learn that the two most frequently used spaces within a dwelling are the kitchen and
bathroom. The kitchen is often referred to as being the 'heart' of the home. The look of
your kitchen tells a lot about the lifestyle you lead. Do you have the time to relax and enjoy your kitchen?
Or, do you avoid spending time cooking meals and order takeaways instead?
If so, then perhaps your kitchen is not as inviting as perhaps it could be. Having a kitchen in which you can
really 'be yourself' and enjoy quality time could become a valuable method of dscovering more relaxing lifestyle
and state of calm in an otherwise hectic life. Home-prepared food is often healthier and cheaper than processed
food.
Take a look at your kitchen and imagine how it could be transformed into something special just for you. Look
through glossy magazines to gather ideas. Whether you'd prefer a traditional, country, modern, luxury, or
Victorian, Edwardian or 50's retro-themed kitchen, there's no shortage of cabinets, appliances, fittings
and accessories with which your perfect kitchen can be created.
Here are a few easy initial steps to take when considering a new kitchen installation:
- Be realistic about the size of your budget, calculate how much you can
realistically afford tospend, Write down everything you need to buy, then
choose items within your budget.
- Consider whether you want built-in or free standing cabinets
- Draw a scaled floorplan of the space available.
- .
- Who will be using the kitchen?
- Will it be used for entertaining, family meals, food preparation, work...?
- Choose a style which you can live with for the forseeable future.
- Obtain firm quotations for all elements including, cabinets, ironmongery, applicances,
flooring, shelving, furniture and tiling.
- Don't underestimate the amount of storage space you'll need. It's better to have too much
rather than too little.
- Add finishing touches, candles, flowers and music..
